Cruising out in the boonies

I didn't really feel like riding today but didn't feel like sitting around the house either since it was going to be a "cool" 93 degrees. So I packed a few cold drinks, put in the ear buds and headed out of town. Within about 5 miles out of town I was in the mood. So I kept on cruising and exploring the good minimum roads.
Great day on the bike!
This KLR keeps impressing me!

Obviously a great ride. Great roads, great scenery. All the old iron bridges like those are gone around here: none left at all.

I liked the "Minimum Maintenance Travel At Your Own Risk" sign.

Cruising the Boonies is what it's all about. Did you even see anybody else on your trip?

Great report ! That is exactly why I'm into dual-sports. When the pavement ends the adventure starts. You don't have to ride far or fast.

Gray-haired riders don’t get that way from pure luck.

Looks like you had a blast. That looks like about the perfect day ride.

Looking at great photos like this are almost as good as me taking a ride myself. It's easy to get into the ride and blow off taking pictures but we appreciate that you did.

Thanks guys!! Lots of times I'm out riding and see something cool and wish I had my camera. So I've just been throwing it in the bag (when I remember) before taking off. I took my camcorder too but didn't feel like sitting it up and turning around, yadda yadda. Stopping, unplugging the mp3, etc takes enough time. The good thing is I would stop, take some pics and start sweatin, get back on and ride and I'd feel cool again.

I was cruising along a gravel road and came up on a farm so I slowed down watching for dogs that hind out and wait for the perfect time to run out and try to snag a car. I was scanning the sides of the road, then there was a shady spot in the road and right there was an old gray/yellow dog (camo'd) chillin in the middle of the road. He just raised his head and looked at me. LOL
About clipped a big turkey vulture and a crane later on. They helped to spice up the day.

planalp have you heard of the MO swinging bridges ride? I'd like to get over there and do it sometime.

Hey, savage. I've heard of it. Looks like it's down in the middle of the State. Sounds like a good goal for a ride.

You are showing me a side of Kansas I didn't know about. Thank you, and show us some more.
