Another mean, green 2008 KLR650 :)

Hey everyone! First time poster here, and though I'd share my new toy and project with you.

I'm taking delivery of my 2008 KLR650E tomorrow night, and unfortunately only have one poor-quality picture to offer from when I was inspecting it, but annoyingly could not post it as I've not made enough posts yet...grrrrrr!!

This is my first adventure-bike, after 12years of only riding sportsbikes, so it's fair to say that I'm a rather excited puppy atm! Haha! I've already gone a bit crazy with the spending on parts and accessories not even 12hours after saying yes to the bike. I'm now itching for the goodies to arrive so I can get started building up the beast! As you can see I have a lot of work ahead in the next couple of months, and look forward to sharing in the updates, installation tips, and plenty of pics with you all!

Ordered:
- Happy Trails nerf bars
- Happy Trails engine guard
- Happy Trails sump guard
- Happy Trails rallye windscreen system
- Barkbuster handguards
- Oxford hot grips
- Heated seat pad
- Moose Racing seat cover
- Garmin 62S cradle
- Garmin 62S wiring kit
- Mini USB wiring kit
- 12v socket wiring kit
- Flat mount RAM ball (for my Navman road GPS)
- iJet iPhone/iPod wireless controller
- UHF channel sticker for rear fender
- Moose Racing route sheet holder

Coming very, very soon:
- Braided brake lines
- SBS brake pads
- Stompgrips for the tank
- Subframe upgrade kit
- Oxford digital clock/thermometer
- Fuse block & relays
- Zero Gravity double bubble screen (clear)
- Happy Trails fork brace
- Happy Trails rear master cylinder bracket
- Happy Trails rear master cylinder guard
- Happy Trails centre stand
- Touratech pannier racks
- Rotopax 1gal fuel & water containers (x2 of each)
- Kriega ADV pannier rack luggage platform
- Kriega 15lt bags for luggage platform
- Kriega 20lt bag
- Kriega 5lt bag
- Kriega tank bag brace

Still weighing up:
- Pivot footpegs
- Handlebar risers
- Front fork springs
- Rear shock
- Matching gear shifter and rear brake levers
- Spot lights
- ShuRoo or other wildlife deterent
- LED brake light and indicators (to save the power)
- Headlight mesh guard (haven't been able to find one yet!)
- Toolkit (still figuring out exactly what I need)
- Spare parts and inner tubes

Welcome and congrats on your new ride. That's quite a list of farkles, going to make the price of the bike seem cheap. LOL

Thanks for the kind welcome mate! Once I've hit my required 15 posts I'll get some pictures up.

Ha I got it at a very nice price (ah I love winter!), so have a bit more to spend on goodies than I had initially budgeted for. It's going to be a "keeper" so I don't mind going all out. It's going to be doing a few events over the coming years, and do a lot of solo trips so it's important to have it properly sorted and not scrimp on the important stuff.

Thanks for the warm welcome and the link for the guard...love your work!

Out of curiosity, where is the best section to start a build-up thread? Cheers!

Welcome to the forum, KLR Kaos. Your farkle list is longer than a lot of threads on here.
Enjoy riding it and working on it!

Thanks for the point in the right direction, much appreciated. I hope to make a start on the build-up thread tomorrow night when I get back from the 2.5hr ride picking the bike up. There's certainly a few gurus on these beasts in here, and the KLR clearly has won a lot of fans for a good reason! I'll be sure to pick their brains on many issues, lol!

Hahaha! Yeah the list is rather long, but I'm glad to have smashed away a decent part of it already...even before taking delivery of the bike! Half of the fun for me is building up the bike...I cannot stand leaving anything standard...virtually any product is made for the masses, not the individual. I genuinely enjoy the time in the garage, the countless hours of research and putting my own stamp on a bike...every bike I've ever owned have had the same treatment, and as a mate said to me earlier tonight, "oh crap...you're going to create another masterpiece", hahaha!

This time however, I'm not as keen to be riding it around straight away, well not until I've done a few of the key mods for my peace of mind and comfort. They're a great bike out of the box (like a Jeep or Land Rover), but do need some mods to get the most from it!
