Rat-Moto Project



Lots of upgrades. Some obvious, and some not so obvious. The fairing sucks. I'm working on a super secret fairing project at the moment. I kinda have to do it in two stages, because I plan on making several to sell, and so most people will have the stock headlight. Then, I'm making a second one that will accomodate my HID project. But in the meantime I love the bike without the fairing... no buffeting, wind noise, head shake... nothing. Just needs a little "cleaning up" with the blinker set-up and wires.

I was wondering if you ever finished the project, and how the fairing project came out?

Biker Scout fell off the face of the earth a while back, and did so owing a lot of KLR riders money.

He has/had a website with a lot of really cool items, and while I've never had a problem with him, he hasn't made any friends in a while. His website still accepts payment, but you won't hear anything from him, from what I've heard, and you won't see what you ordered, either..

It's really too bad..

His website is http://www.klrstuff.com/ and as you can see, you can't even contact him, but his site will accept your money and you'll never receive what you've paid for..

I wish Biker Scout (AKA Mr. Bill Decker) would come out of hiding and follow through with his plans. He had a ton of really cool items and he even wrote a book.. I have a few stickers from him and they're top quality.. I just wish he'd come back to the motorcycle world.

Looks like the site doesn't take orders at all anymore. If you do a whois lookup of his domain name it provides contact info; I don't want to post it for privacy issues.

According to his last post he was having internet issues, though that was back in October.

Some say it displaces water better, is better for wear, but from what we have discovered, most tires will have an arrow pointing in the direction of forward movement and the front tires usually get mounted that way in regards to the arrow of direction.

With all the dedicated MX bikes on the market I personally wouldn't do that to my KLR. I have complained profusely at times about things that I had to upgrade but the bottom line is, I like the way the bike looks. If I really want something that looks like a KTM or some other exotic I'll have to get off my ass and buy one.

Truth: the KLR meets and exceeds my needs so all is well.

I like how it looks. I always wondered what a KLR would look like without the front fairing. I'd like to see the rest of the plastic in place though. For looks only.

I'm very interested in seeing the super secret fairing project unfold!

Also very interested in knowing what tires those are and how they perform on gravel roads. They look like street tires to me but have a nice meaty tread. I ride highway and gravel and I'm looking for the perfect tire. Those things look awsome!
