My new 2014 Klr650 New Edition!

Just picked a brand new 2014.5 New edition KLR650. It is in the Pearl White flavor. I was originally going to pick up a used one, but started researching and realized the MSRP(got it for $300 less) on a new one wasn't that bad, especially with the new edition hop-ups. I've been riding dirt for about 9 years, but never had a street bike, so I'm pretty stoked about finally getting a plated bike. First impressions are that the bike doesn't feel as heavy as it is and is actually pretty decent on the street. I was a bit surprised by the lack of bottom end power, but I think a pipe and some tuning can help with that, and maybe a gear change. Looks like there is plenty to read on here, so time to get to it.

I cant post pics until I hit 15 posts, so ill have to get on that as well.

I just purchased the same thing but in the green flavor. I already have 1 300 miles on her. My two brothers slip on is coming in tomorrow. The stock header looks good to me so I'm going to just try that and the air filter plus the l mod.

I also purchased a New Edition in white. Be careful about gearing changes if you want to take the bike on the interstates. My first KLR would barely go 75mph.

Yeah after a good ride today, I probably won't gear down. It's definitely a fun bike, but I can't wait till break in is over so I can get the full experience. Suspension was nice in the twisties, better than I expected.

sounds like a good plan to me. I'm probably going with the Lexx slip on. And yeah the stock header looks decent. I wonder if there is any porting that could be done.

I went with a FMF Q4 slip-on. The stock can just looks pregnant. Most of the other mods are for safety such as a better horn and better lighting front and rear. The KLR is defiantly a fun bike. Don't get carried away over farkeling your bike or you might loose the fun factor.

I've taken off the lower rear fender and relocated the plate up to right underneath the tail light. It was very easy using parts that came off the fender I took off. Once I hit 15 posts I'll put up some pictures. Does anyone else think that's a dumb rule? No other forum I'm on does that.
