Before...1981 XT 250

For the price of a 300 mile round trip to get it, I got my 9yr stepson a bike. (need to lower a bit)
He wants to paint it black with red flame and skull and cross bones.
Sat 2 years, started in 4 kicks with the old gas, runs good!

Just wanted to do a before, after coming later...

Gordon,

Lucky kid! He'll be good on that for a couple of years!

Nice find, and good on ya for being a dad.

Before he rides it, off to the motorcycle shop for all the gear..

I need to remove the speedometer also or he will try to see how fast it will go. LOL

Gordon,
I'm sorry to need to say this, his legs are 4-5 Inches TOO short for the seat height of the bike.
You better find a shorter bike or plan on investing in a warehouse full of handlebars, grips, levers. I'd hate to have him get discouraged with motorcycling in general and Walk Away Forever!

One needs to get the 'balls' of the feet in firm contact with the ground!
Better yet while learning, one Needs to Be Flat 'Footed'!! Maybe even 'knees bent'!!

Have fun!

Nice, wish I could have found something like that for my son. Instead, he now has my KLR

We are chopping the seat foam down, may try a old custom Sportster seat I have (pretty thin), I think I found a little shorter shock that will work (we will see)
Bike is torn apart right now but I got him new bars, grips and hand guards for his birthday, 6-28, he well love it!!
