Wonder how it and the gas model compare power wise.
Is there any reading out there about what was changed/modified to burn diesel?

2016 KLR 650
2017 BMW S1000RR (traded in for
2018 Ducati V4S
1983 GL1100 Goldwing
2017 Yamaha R1

dan, It is a whole different engine even though it looks very similar. I can only guess that the flywheel, alternator, starter, clutch & transmission are original KLR parts. And I would imagine that the military could/would supply complete service manuals.

Does the diesel variant use the same engine case? I've never seen one in person
