Here we go!

Got this baby on the road today! Only took me 30 minutes between dmv, Ins company and tag office! Got a vanity plate but it will take a week or two so rolling on a paper tag. Gunna let it cool off some, it’s HOT today!

Y’all be good or be good at it!

Yeah Baby! Thats a very well kept KDX!

Nicely kept KLR also. But any gravel nick above the 'fork gaiters' will cause the fork seals to leak. I used Polisport 350 x 41 x 58 mm fork boots last time & Shortened them 4 pleats. Used oem top clamps & safety wire on the bottom pleat in the lower leg groove. Zip-ties will work.

BTW- the kdx was restored. It has 6 minutes on the break in. Only three OEM parts we couldn’t find. It’s an 87- and it’s for sale/trade!

It sits in my cave and it’s a shame it’s not being raced/used/ in a collection.

3000 cash or trade for?!

🙂

Your KDX has the full length fork boots to protect the inner legs from gravel nicks & seals from mud. The KLR originally came with full length fork boots also, those foam neoprene gaiters are leaving the upper half of the inner legs Un-Protected, which can lead to early seal destruction! Even dried bugs can destroy seals on highway rides on unprotected legs!

KLR oem fork boots are a perfect fit, but pricey. Daystar boots are a little tight around the legs, the Polisports are extra long & need air vents added around the lowest full pleat after shortening (I used a heated wire).

I had a KDX 200-It had the black frame and red plastics I think it was a 1984. Bought it from a friend of mine and by then it was 1990 or so. Still my favorite dirt bike I've ever owned. Air cooled and had those D-handles on the sides of the (steel) subframe, if you ever needed to turn it around on a narrow steep hill you could grab those thinks and toss it around.

Nice KDX. Have a lot of fond memories of the 2 I had. One was air-cooled, one was water-cooled. I liked the air-cooled one better.
