Exclamation Log In / Password Issues

This is just a shout out to any of our members who are having problems logging in since the forced password changes of a week ago.

If you are having issues that isn't allowing you access to the site please don't go away in frustration. The simplest thing to do seems to be to create a new user ID. Once logged in send me a PM from your new ID, stating your OLD ID and the email address you want to use for this site.
I can then generate a new password for your old ID and send you a email or PM with it. Once you are logged back in with your previous ID I will delete the newer one after merging any posts that you made with it.

Thanks for the patience. This message will self destruct in 30 days.

The problem I have with the password is that the password is not required to read a thread, think about it and write a reply. BUT, when I attempt to post the reply, the password requirement pops up. Then, while entering the password, the written reply is deleted. I sometimes decide it is not worth trying to remember and rewrite the reply. Of course the remember part is a personal problem, but losing the work I put into it is aggravating.

GoMotor,
The next time that you forget to 'log-in' early and you get the pop-up, use the smaller log-in the upper Right of the "Pop-Up".

Not the log-in above the human 'verification puzzle'!

It usually instantly "posts" my reply instead of pre-viewing which I usually request.

To make sure we are on the same page so to speak, I read your post and am quoting it in my reply as normal, but I have not logged in yet because I came here from an e-mail notification and the log in box did not show to remind my small brain.

I see the type-in-the-answer puzzle below, but if I use it I will still have to go to a password entry box and lose what I have written above. I will copy and store this in memory and go the password box at the top right of the page.

Your "QUOTE" was still in the reply box, but all my typing was gone and I had to restore the above REPLY from what I had coped. AT LEAST THE LITTLE PUZZLE BOX WENT AWAY.

LATER AFTER RETURNING TO THIS SITE:
Well I give up. I have now left the site twice and came back and not been asked for a pass word. Sooner or later I will figure out what the system is doing and what it wants me to do.

My log-in has Expired!

Not the Top Right hand of the Page, but just above and to the right of the Large log-in which is above the puzzle box in the Pop-Up. Both of these are in the Pop-Up.

We'll see if I get it correct? I always start with Preview from here.

OK, Don't use 'Register Now' portion on the Left side of pop-up.
Use the Log-In, User Name and Password on the Right side.

OK. The problem was that after the password verification the system accepted my reply and rolled up a new message box making it appear that my original reply had been discarded.

I've found that if you are going to respond to a post it's best to be logged in first. If you come to the site often don't even log out. You should still be logged in when you come back.

At login I check "Remember Me". It automatically logs me in every time I open the site. It only expires if I clean the cookies.

I never think to log in because it is not necessary to read the thread that the e-mail notification leads me to. Then if I make a reply, I am forced to log in. I always cheek "Remember Me" and I never log out, but I assume that leaving the site logs me out.

It is not a big deal any more as I manage to post a reply when I work at it. Mostly I am now aggravated at myself for not paying attention.
