Off road newbie

Hi all. New to my klr and new to off road riding. I have been on a few gravel roads but nothing to be what I would consider off road. I live down near Charleston SC. I was wondering if there was somewhere a newbie like myself could go around here that I could get some off road expeience without getting in over my head? I am the only one I know with a dual sport so do not think I will have a traveling companion so hopefully no where that I will have a possibility of getting stuck and stranded. Any ideas?

My suggestion is to find a local off road park, and go play.. Nothing trains you for off road riding better than getting out there and doing it.. Even better to do it with friends or folks you know with experience..

…. Keep your speed up…. Not fast, but not a crawl. This is the opposite of what you would think. In water crossings, hill climes, big rock, gullies, you need to have the momentum moving forward so you will not fall over. The bike will do it, you just need to stay on the bike. There is a deferent’s between those that “ride” a bike and those that “RIDE” the bike. There is not a hill, rock, ditch, bolder out there that the bike can not go up and over, the question is if the rider can stay on the bike going over it…… And you really should ride with a friend……
