Spark Plug

I was just wondering if anyone has ever had to change a spark plug on a KLR650 while on a ride (not servicing it). I have had 5 different KLR650s and have carried extra spark plugs for 11 yrs and have never changed a plug while on a ride.

MtnMn,
I too have never had to change a plug on either of my 250s during a ride. I do tote a spare for the Sherpa in the tool kit. Hey, if you bring it you won't need it. Yeah!

I changed mine to a Iridium during a tune up but I did watch a guy change his in the field once.
He had a shortened version of a plug wrench that allowed him to get it without removing the tank.
Oh yeah, I carry spares thinking one of these days sombody's going swimming

Murphy's Law applies here. If you have it you won't need it, and better safe than sorry is the way I think of the plug. I have changed mine twice, both times in the garage, and I'll change it again this winter when I do maintenance.

Today is the first day of the rest of your life.
