OK Sherm, Set the Wayback Machine to 2007, gas to $2.82, and bring back The Dulcimer, Dulcimer Bob that is.
We are gathered here today, to pay tribute to to the man who started this ride, and the North Georgia mountains he calls home. It's time once again for a small but really awesome ride, The Bat Out of Helen! Between my work schedule this year, and the monsoon season in North Georgia, I have NOT ridden a mile yet this year. Pretty sad! But I'm about to change that with some preperation and scouting for the 7th annual Bat Out of Helen.
I know I'm late getting this party started, but I hope that most of the regulars, and especially the IRREGULARS, saw the notice in Chuck's 2013 KLR Rally Calander, and planned to be in Helen GA this fall.
The schedule is the first week in October. I've had one person ask about moving it out a week to the second week, and I'm fine with whatever the majority wants to do this year. The BOOH has been just about every weekend in October in the past, so sign up and post your preference for dates. Hanging Dog is the third weekend (18th-20th) so those dates are out.
I'll be glad to lead the Friday ride to points East of Helen, and once again I'll ask for volunteers to lead the Saturday ride to the West of Helen.
Fridays ride will depart from the parking lot beside Unicoi Lake at Unicoi State Park just north of Helen on Hwy 356 (34.724878, -83.727182) I hope to get in a couple of scouting rides over the next couple of weeks, but I have a good stash of routes and will do my best to provide a good days adventure on Friday.
I'm looking for volunteers to help with the planning and lead the "Westside" adventure again this year. Please PM me if you are available and willing to help.
