Hey everyone,

You probably have some maps and already planned your way into town, but below is a map of the N. GA Mtns., showing the key pieces of pavement for the area. Follow the directions below to get the best out of the map:

To be able to zoom in on the map, this is the best luck I have had. Of course, it is still not as good as viewing with the software, but it is close.

Click on the link. Then, quickly, maximize your screen. Click on the word Print, just to the right of the map. Switch to Landscape and allow the map to refresh. While your map is refreshing, follow the instructions about how to print shades. When you can see the map again, you can use CTRL - and + to zoom in and out.

(CTRL - and + will work after you first click on the map you want, but it is very quirky and needs to refresh its blurriness.)

It's not hard, just need to understand it's ways......

Hey guys!

Harvickdaman29 and I were leaving out of the store just down the road from where I live and the starter hung up and runs constantly. Just running on engine voltage, now, with the battery disconnected and am afraid to get to far off with it in this condition. I know the 9:00 is out and more than likely the 1pm, too. Sorry for the inconvenience. We are back at the house doing work, now. If you guys still want to get together yourselves and explore, GO FOR IT! I'll keep ya posted on the situation.

Thanks

Chuck

O.K. guys,

Found the problem. The solinoid for the starter must have been acting up. Scott and I were leaving the gas station and I noticed he had his helmet off. I stopped and shut my engine off to wait for him. When he wasn't putting his helmet back on, I started up and went over to him. That's when I knew something with my bike was wrong. I kept hearing the starter running. Whenever I shut off the engine, the starter kept turning the engine over. After tapping on the starter with no success, we disconnected the battery. I was thinking that something was wrong between the battery and the starter, but we never thought, , thought to look for a solinoid. Anyway, by the time we cruised back to my house, posted up about the delay, looked for threads about this particular problem, took the muffler and pipe off, took off the starter, took off the tank (to look at the solinoids under it), we finally realized it was behind the kick-stand safety switch cover (sorry, didn't know). Of course, just taking off the cover scared the solinoid enough that it started working correctly. If only at the store, we had followed the cable from the starter back to behind the cover, we probably could have fixed the problem in a couple of minutes.

Anyway, sorry for not being there to lead the ride. I was looking forward to doing a little touring with you guys. I think I'm going to use the rest of the day finishing up some chores. Hopefully it will allow my pass to be rainchecked until tomorrow.

I'll keep ya posted.

Chuck,
No worries on your little issue today and glad to hear it was minor.

I was not going to make it anyway after getting some bad news early this morning. My father, who has been battling bladder cancer and stroke recovery since May, passed in his sleep sometime last night.

Hope ya'll have a great ride tomorrow and I'll catch up with ya at a later date.

Thanks,
Todd
