New dual sport rider (Not on a KLR)

I know this isn't a KLR, but I wanted to share this. I want to welcome my daughter Courtney to the world of dual sport motorcycling. Yesterday I picker up a 2002 DR 200 for her. The bike might be 14 years old, but looks new and has 441 miles on it. I can't wait to see the miles, smiles, adventure and enjoyment she gets from riding this bike.

Thank Ya'll for indulging me on this.

Those are a great little bike. It's a good bike to learn on and the trails are where you should start out. If you can ride trail, the road is easy. Get her all the protective gear.

Firstly; Congrats and nice bike. :-)

- I'd second the suggestion of the importance of proper gear and perhaps consider a riding course too.

- as far as the age goes; that bike is brand new. I ride two KLR's and 2000 and 2001 and I picked up the 2000 last spring with 578 miles on it. New battery and tires and it was good to go (check the tires for dry rot on that 2002)

have fun.

Cheers,
Dave

She definitely has all the protective gear. She has been riding dirt bikes since she was 11. Tires were checked and luckily it was kept in a climate controlled garage. So far all it needed was a good carburetor cleaning.

Awesome. Not to harp but I'd take a second look at the tires and even check the dates; mine looked good too at first brush but once they were off, you could distort the tire and see the dry rot.

Have fun you two! My son and I ride together too. :-)
