Random Photos of Weekend Ride

Some random photos of our weekend on the Forest Roads in the Withlacoochee State Forest/Richloam WMA, east of Brooksville, Florida.

My son was on the 2016 KLR650 sporting Conti TKC80s front and rear and I was on the 2016 DR650 sporting Shinko Big Block 804 front/805 rear. I’d picked up the DR mid-last month so we could do some dual sporting together.

Although this is the dry season, we still have a lot of retained water because our forests are basically swamps. The water patterns change quite a bit and, more importantly, four wheelers go through these water crossings and tear up the bottom. They can become impassable with deep mud at the bottom. You’ve really got to go in and find the line around all the ruts. Plus, you need to scare the gators and moccasins out.

Continued….

If its not deep water, its mud. If its not mud, its sand.

...and the sand can be deep.

...and if you're not careful, it'll toss you around a little, like maybe right off the road.

These photos were int the Richloam WMA. We have a number of forests in west central Florida (Croom, Citrus, ONF). My son and I are always up for a ride if anyone ever wants to go explore these areas.

Great looking pics, Bill! Sorry we didn't get to ride together during Roads and Trails last month. Hope to ride with you soon, though.

Keep Loving Rides!
