Where to ride in Northern Florida?

I can't take it anymore! It's cold and I'm out of here. Loading up the bikes and going to Suwannee River State Park for two weeks in January. Looks like it's flat and the roads are straight but it should be a lot warmer than here.

Where should I ride around that area? Is there a curve anywhere?

Lots and lots of back roads that way. I'm the other side of Live Oak here in Lake City. It's pretty over there, but kinda the middle of no where.

We're going to stay on pavement. Wife has a NC700X and I'm running road tires on the KLR. I may have a new bike by then anyway. Looking at a Versys 1000. Might just do a bunch of lefts and rights and get lost.

May ride to Keaton Beach and Hagen's Cove. Programmed those in the GPS. Don't see a lot of interesting destinations on the GPS but I'm just wanting a warmer ride. Once we hit 30 degrees again I'll be happy with whatever.

It was 67 here yesterday and we rode but the roads were wet so we stayed away from the fun stuff.

Where's the best place for seafood? I'd at least like to gain a few pounds of fat around the middle to bring home. Campground closes the gate at sunset so we're going to have to doing all our pigging out at lunch.

I'm over in Tallahassee FL. Lots of fun roads in N Florida and S Georgia, just set GPS to "avoid highways" and go exploring. Great seafood and neat old FL town at Cedar Key. Not your white sand beaches, but well off the beaten path. South of us, Wakulla Springs is neat state park and there's great seafood and a brewery in Apalachicola FL. Over on the East coast, St. Augustine, south of Jacksonville is nice to visit and has the beautiful beaches FL is famous for. Have fun !!

If you're riding to any of the beaches you should be able to find a good hole in the wall seafood joint (those are my favorites).

Gators dockside has a really good fish and chips meal.... but I'm not sure if there is one out that way. I know there is one here and in Gainesville.

Steinhatchee had some good places, but I'm not sure what's left after the storm. Look up "Who Dats" and "Roys". We really like Who Dats.

If you go to St Augustine you should go tour San Sebastián Winery. It's free with a free wine tasting. It's beautiful and a lot of fun. The whole town of St Augustine is beautiful.

SnowyMonkey is right, Florida state parks have gate codes, and you can call for the code if arriving late the first day. He is also right about "hole in the wall" seafood places - they are small, colorful and locally owned and the best. My fav place in Appalachicola is called "Hole in the Wall", LOL !!

I was just over at the Stephen Foster State Park in White Springs last week. It's a very historical area, right on the mighty Suwannee River. I like to ride bicycles, so we took the car and rode 25 miles of dirt trails along the river. They have over 50 miles of bicycle trails there, it's a fun place to ride.
