It's that time of year for our ride in the beautiful mountains of Stecoah, NC! The CMA has put on Roads & Trails (formerly known as Slaying the Dragon) since 2008! There is great riding to enjoy, so come out for the weekend! All bikes are welcome!

During the weekend, we will be paying tribute to an old buddy of ours that I first got to know on a Slaying the Dragon weekend.........Jason Pearson! Check out his farewell link, HERE

Who: All are invited........I will help lead the DS/Adventure rides
What: Roads & Trails!
Where: Iron Horse Motorcycle Lodge.....Ironhorse Motorcycle Lodge | 828-479-3864 Iron Horse Motorcycle Lodge near Tail of the Dragon at Deals Gap and Cherohala Skyway
When: April 7-9, 2017 (early bird on the 6th)
Why: Because Dual-sporting is the best!

Here is a link to CMA's annual events........... CMA Events

Each year we try and take different routes so returning folks have new territory to cover. We can cater to the crowd's riding styles (mild - hooligan) since we have multiple leaders!

Another riding season for me is underway!!! It's always a great time getting together with the CMA crowd at Iron Horse each year for Roads & Trails North Carolina!! If you haven't been.............come join us next year! Thanks also to Iron Horse for giving us a great place to hang out!

Also, last year we lost our friend Jason in an ultralight crash. He had ridden with us a couple of times. Ridir Frith and the rest of the CMA is sending his wife this year's T-shirt as a way of saying we are thinking of him and his family.

FRIDAY

My day started out hauling both my Kawasaki bikes....KLR650 (719) and KLX650R........and also Jamie's sweet Honda 450 to camp! Today was a mild/medium day of riding. Once riding, we hit some sweet twisties on the way over to see how the fire affected Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest and Maple Springs Overlook. On our way to lunch, our friend Chris had a crash on 143.....about a mile from Thunder Mtn General Store. He had separation in his shoulder and we later found out during his visit to the hospital that he would be fine, but will need surgery. We wish you well, Chris.

SATURDAY

The DS riders this day split up into a few groups.........I took my group up Squally Creek! It was a great time! The further we get to the top, of course, the rougher it gets. The snow made for some challenging situations, so I took a couple of the guys back through the Huffman Creek bail-out while the other 2 guys followed a 2-stroke rider we met along the way. We all met back at Thunder Mtn. for some grub. Later that night (10pm-1am), a few of us got to watch the Supercross race upstairs in a sweet movie room!

SUNDAY

After a great morning service, Jamie and stick around to put in another day of riding! I normally use Sunday's to do some scouting, so after taking Jamie on his first Ride to Nowhere, we go hit some new-to-me terrain! After lunch, we ride Tellico Gap and Winding Stairs! Then after that, Jamie headed home via the Cherohala Skyway, while I go back to camp to load up 'Ole Barb' to make the trip home!
