One can go to the "Members Map" and then to "Tools" and send a PM (private message) to a members in your area, inquire about meet & greet & riding.

Hey, Tom here's an area to improve! Make the members map easier to find & 'hot-spot' the members names for easier PM contact.

Try, "Coal Creek," Oliver Springs area.

70,000 contiguous acres, IIRC; MILES of interesting roads and trails.

Also, a couple of other OHV venues ("Brimstone," etc.) are adjacent (my understanding).

Last I check Coal Creek was 88 bucks a year for a pass. I bought a pass one year but "snuck in" the Lake City side for years before that. Most of the trails were a little rough for a KLR. Royal Blue / Sundquest was better suited for my KLR. You can buy a riding pass for RB but a hunting/fishing licencse with a "small game add on" costs less and allows you to ride RB and fish and hunt. I live where I can see the "windmills" at CC and always went to RB. The side by sides are tearing up most of the trails in these places. You come up on a water holes that's all the way acrros the trail. The water is muddy and you can't tell if it's 6 inches deep or 6 foot deep. Sucks! Made me kind of give up on riding there. The gravel roads are still a good ride. Don't ride alone there. Cell phones don't work and if you crash you may not see anyone for a long time. The wife likes paved roads better anyway. Sold the KLR and got a Versys 1000. She rides a NC700. We're spending the summer in the Motorhome riding on the Blue Ridge Parkway. If you see a green flash on the parkway followed close by a black flash, that was us. LOL!

PS: A good place for a beginner to ride is the Norris lake watershed. If you have a license plate they can't stop you. Some of the city cops try but have them call their boss. If you're legal on the road you can ride there. It's class one.

Appreciate the update, Toney!

It's been a while since I rode Coal Creek; back then, affordable day passes were available.

Otherwise, as you describe, "The world continues to deteriorate!"

A 1000cc Razor can really rip up a pefectly good trail.

I think a day pass was 17 bucks a few years ago when I was interested enough to check.

Here's the GPS map of the trails for anyone interested:

PS: The world is not my fault, I try and tell people they all need to be more like me
