Well, it's that time of year to post up the Tours!! See ya at Cherohala Motorcycle Resort, May 14-16!!!! Early Bird Run on the 13th...............
-9:30 (4.0)____Cherokee Classic Run
-9:30 (2.0)____Dead-End Tour
__________Doctor's Orders Tour
________Ragin' River Run
Not sure what these ratings mean (ie. 2.0), check out this link to better inform you of the rides........... http://www.klrforum.com/showthread.p...newpost&t=2966
Hooligan Ride - This is the mother of our hard rides. It is designed for those riders looking for the coolest, yet ugliest terrain you care to tackle with your KLR. The route is consistently throwing out 3.5 and 4.0's. There are optional 4.5-5.0s for anyone looking to sharpen you and your bike's skills. You will benefit with lower sprocket gearing and knobbies!
Cherokee Classic - Last year was the first year I didn't offer my favorite local riding tour! This year I have brought it back and have added some cool little morsles taken form earlier TDT tours and new ones as well. This is a ride designed for those riders looking for great FS roads, scenery, and occasional breaks
Dead-End Tour - This is the tour that is the icing on the cake for the weekend.....During my scouting over the years, I've come across some excellent views, water crossings, trails, etc., just to come to a dead end. This tour is in honor of these 'turn-arounds'. So, you will definitely want to stick around and check out this medium aggressive, fun ride.
Doctor's Orders Tour- No, your doctor didn't order this ride, but your tour leader (Tagalong) is under doctor's orders not to get to rambunctious before going under the knife on Monday morning. The route will consist of about 60/40 dirt to pavement, some really good FS roads, high elevations, and photo ops. We'll round the day off with some refreshing creek crossings.
Ragin' River Run - This Friday ride is designed for those riders wanting scenery and great roads, all in one........... if you enjoy riding along awesome rivers and creeks, whether street or dirt, this is your ride!! And scattered in between will be some of the coolest views in the Southeast! Oh, don't forget about the best flat-track road in this area, too!
Early Bird Run - On Thursday we are leaving out at 9:00 am for some cool local riding. (2.5) After some lunch, we will pick up any late comers around 12:00 and head out for some great twisties, scenery and great roads and trails, on our way to a nice offroad area. (3.0). An optional 4.5 trail is available also. You only get this from the Early Bird Run...... See ya there!!!!
Last year's SGT's were so popular, I decided to keep the same rides!!! Also look for additional SGTs in the near future:
Self-guided, 'Grab a Few Friends' tours: 2 ways to use these maps - 1)key in the coords. into your GPS or 2)just print off the map. Text in Yellow shows what order the points are in.
You can use this gps file converter if you need a different file type...http://www.tracegps.com/en/gpsbabel/convert.htm
Flat Track Run - For those of you that enjoys the twistys, pavement and dirt, this ride is for you. The fun factor is so high, you'll be high-fiving everyone when you finally decide to stop. - 1.5
DS Sightseeing Tour - If you have always wanted to check out some of the big names of touring in the south, check out these: Cades Cove, Deals Gap, Parson's Branch, Cherohala Skyway, & Foothills Parkway - 1.5
Scenic Overlook Tour - I've put together some great overlooks for you on this ride. Personally, I've never seen them all in a single day, so, you'll be one of the elite. - 2.0
Cherohala DS Ride - This is a very popular ride for us locals. You get 1/2 pavement, 1/2 dirt across/thru the beautiful mtns. between Tellico Plains and Robbinsville - 1.5
Historic Gap Tour - On this tour, you will be crossing over 3 major historic gaps: Unicoi, Tatham, and Stratton. Great ride and sweet roads! - 1.5
Local Living Ride - Wanna see some cool local spots and roads. Well, this is a ride that does just that and where you're never more than 20 minutes from camp. - 1.5
Hiwassee Haven Run - This ride consists of several of my favorite roads/trails in the Hiwassee area. Good for riders wanting to ease up the terrain rating scale. - 3
Cuhutta Wilderness Run - This is one of the first routes I ever took when I moved to this area. These are some great FS roads, with a very nice suprise awaiting you at Patterson's Gap. Can you say, 'Yee Ha'? - 2.5
Fires Creek WMA Tour - I know WMA normally stands for 'Wildlife Management Area', but in this case it really should stand for 'Wonderful Motorcycle Adventure'!!! And on the way back, have an awesome time on the Joe Brown Highway...... with it's little side adventure! - 2.0 (Top of Big Stamp - 2.5)
.....Tour begins heading south on Hwy 68.
Note: Bald River Falls
is listed on just a few of these rides, but due to it's location and high scenic factor, it can be added into just about any Ride. (N35 19 27.44, W84 10 37.29) Also, FS61 (not on my software, but around N35 19 35.56, W84 2 27.04) will take you to Whigg Meadow
Keep Loving Rides!
