Hi-Mountain Dual Sport Ride 4/29/07

Here is a link for the Hi-Mountain Dual Sport Ride on April 29th in San Luis Obispo. I'll be going along with a few friends and wanted to invite anyone else that is interested.

SLO town memories

Hey SLO-KLR, you must be a Cal Poly SLO grad. Saw your post about the the Hi Mountain ride and brought back memories.

I was there in the late 80's and a member of the Penguins. At the time the main event was the Hi Mountain Enduro, but now looks like they are doing a formal DP ride. If I recall, the Enduro was cut soon after I left due to not being able to get permission to ride on some private land or something like that. When I was there I had a 1986 KLR 600 and did some good DP rides. The Penguins did not have a DP section, so I ended up doing a few street rides with the club and trying to also do a few dirt rides with the guys as well but kind of hard to keep up when you are on a KLR vs. a CR, YZ, or Husky ... Unfortunately at the time there were not a lot of other DP riders (guess I was ahead of the curve), but sounds like that has changed in the last 20 years!

Sounds like it will be a great ride and wish I could be there. Would be a trip to ride some of the same roads on my newer (05) KLR that I did on the 86 ... But I am now in Boise Idaho so would be a bit of a haul. O'well, plenty of dirt up here to keep my occupied.

Have a great ride!

Jim.

I moved down here from Idaho in 86. I wish I could say that I was a Cal-Poly grad but I'm not. I just happened to find out about the ride online last year so I dropped in for part of the ride in the morning before going to work. I'm off this year so I'm signing up for the full ride. The ride does cross a couple of ranches which is where the BBQ and refueling takes place.
If you ever find yourself headed down this way drop me a line and maybe we can set up a ride or just talk bikes over a cold one.

Hey - I'm in - if I can find someone to help me get my KLR down to San Luis for this. Anyone have an extra spot on their trailer/truck leaving from the Bay Area?? Willing to share driving/gas.

It's a fun ride with lots of riders. The route usually changes some every year so there is something new each year.
