Ride Planned Dec14th 2008 (PHX Area) -Cancelled

Southwest Dual Sport Riders (Club), has planned a ride for Sunday December 14th, 2008.

The route will take us through Cordes, Mayer, Cherry, Jerome, Perkinsville, Parks, Bellemont and into Flagstaff. The ride will begin at the Waffle House I-17 & Bell Rd and we will depart that location at 7:30 am.

This will be an all day ride, so please be prepared. We will have a chase vehicle that will meet us at pre-arranged locations. The chase vehicle will be equipped with emergency fuel, water, snacks and tools.

However, please prepare yourself for the ride by carrying with you the following suggested items: Spare front and rear tire tubes, an assortment of nuts and bolts, fuses for your bike and any tools specific to your ride which may not be carried by other riders, water and snacks in case of breakdown. Also, it is highly recommended that you wear proper protective gear for this ride.

The planned route contains portions that are rated at levels 1 & 2 for difficulty (for those of you who have ridden Bloody Basin front side, that route is rated level 1, while Senator Hwy is rated level 2), so it will be a good ride for those wishing to increase their skills.

The Ride route is subject to modification as needed due road closures and weather. Ride is subject to cancellation if weather does not cooperate.

I will be bringing radios for comm. between the lead rider, tail rider (I usually ride tail) and the chase vehicle.

Ride Leader (Eddy) and I both have GPS units with the ride route loaded.

Please follow the link below for the planned ride route.

Sounds like a good ride. Any chance you can do some Saturday rides instead of Sundays? Also, any plans for an East Table Mesa rd towards Seven Springs through Cave Creek ride?

We are looking into expanding our ride areas, however I think due to the weather moving in for the winter and the approach of the holiday season it will be after the first of the year. I have mentioned to the group that we need to make arrangements for those who live in the east valley and we will! I will also discuss with the group the possibilties of doing some Saturday rides as well.

Angry Ride Cancelled

Sorry Gals and Guys, but in the interest of safety, due to the approaching weather front which is to produce snow as far south as Prescott and temps in the mid 20's to mid's 30's (and those are the high temps for Sunday) the ride is going to be cancelled until a later, better, warmer date. However, we will still do our Sunday meet and greet at the Starbucks swc Tatum and Bell Rd 8:00am (9:00 am for Eddy), this Sunday. I want to discuss future ride plans and dates, so if anyone has a ride guide please bring it to the meeting.

Hey Makakaoa, here's a website you might like: http://www.cyclerides.com/

Got some good Arizona 'day ride' photos and stories. Mostly on-road and highway but good nevertheless.
