Border Patrol Bulldozers

I have a spread in Arivaca, AZ ten miles from the border. The last year or so, the border patrol has been cleaning up some of the old gold mining and ranching roads of which we have many. I've been taking a old Mazda MPV w/large tires through these and they are great. See: http://picasaweb.google.com/alaskasa...RideInArivaca# They've only done a select few, but there are still a zillion miles of old roads and ruins to explore so I bought a KLR 650 to get a little more into it. We take a truck with deeelux camping gear and set up a base camp then do some exploring in a "sandrail", the soccer van or jeep then come back for some steaks, drinks and hours of telling lies. I'm excited about the bike, but now I need somebody to drive the truck!

Arivaca is just 55 miles SW of Tucson and a "destination" for bikers, but mostly road machines. I don't see a lot of bikes back in the bush so it's pretty nice and camping is easy. Check out the Buenos Aires National Wildlife Refuge and the Coronado National Forest. You can find some links here: http://arivacan.googlepages.com/home. I think it's perfect for a dual-sport.

I hear ya. I spent too many years in Nebraska... but then,... I moved to Alaska. Now I'm getting tired of the winters here too.
