California questions

Hi All,

Well, it looks like we are moving to the Bay Area. The question I have is this...I know that bikes from Cali have special emissions boxes or something. Do I need to alter my NON-Cali bike? What's the emissions cutoff date etc. I got a 2006. I have searched online but get confusing answers.

Also, is there any discount on the Toll bridges for bikes, or is it the same as a car?

Any help would be appreciated.

You got red on you.

Tolls are free during rush hour "commute" times. 7-9 and 4-6 or something. Bikes save big money if you're using the bridges.

I don't think the bike would be a problem, but then again the DMV is a den of insanity and powertripping. Could be wrong.

The little info I did get was that it is 4 bux one way and your return is free, but didn't know if that included bikes.

I know that you can use HOV, and lane split, etc, but was unsure about tolls. Gonna be nice riding in mild weather again. Still 100 here. It was 115 at the hottest point this summer.

Plus have some culture and architecture. Here it's one giant strip mall, and the only "culture" you get here is going to a mexican restaraunt. Wife and I miss decent asian food.

You got red on you.

Did you make the move? It looks like Vallejo is you new home? Welcome to the bay area. There are a lot of great roads and Asian food here!

For what it's worth I just registered a bike that was originally from Alaska. Though it's registered until 2010 in Alaska, the PO never registered it in california. It was fine because the bike had over 7500 miles. But, the bike had a different motor in it so now I have to have the CHP give their stamp of approval before I can get the pink.
The could care less about the smog stuff since it had over 7500.
