  1. KLR & Other Motorcycle Related Discussion
I recently purchased a very low-mile 2012 KLR. One potential issue when releasing the clutch is the friction point is at the very end of the release (clutch lever all the way out). Is there a way to adjust the friction engagement area to around 2/3 of the clutch range? I hope I am making sense.

Title pretty much sums it up. Changing the oil on new-to-me 2006. After pouring in the new oil, I loosely screwed on the oil filler cap, started the bike to circulate the oil...and then became curious, and unscrewed the filler cap to see the clutch spin. The pressure in the case popped the cap...
  3. All Things DOOHICKEY
Howdy, Just picked up a '99 KLR, and after putting ~200 miles with everything functioning normally, I did the 'Do (glad I did since the original was in pieces that I later found in the oil strainer) and did an oil/oil filter change with T6 Rotella. After completing both of these jobs at the...

I just replaced the clutch on my 2008 KLR 650 using this clutch kit and following Partzilla's tutorial. I am unable to get the clutch to disengage. I replaced the cable as well and have been trying to adjust it. When I start the bike in neutral, and shift with the clutch lever in the bike...

I just bought my first KLR, a 2013, about 2 months ago. When I bought it the oil was quite low and it had been sitting for a few months. Ive fixed it up a bit, and have been commuting on it a few days a week. One day I was experimenting with 2 finger clutch pulls, and since then second gear has...

Hi guys, My clutch cable got broke so I've installed a new one. All looks good and I set it as said in original manual, but now bike stalls instantly if I pull the clutch. I thought maybe it's a side-stand sensor, but this happens even on neutral. There is no bad sound from clutch - it just...

Started to have starting issues, need help to determine what the problem is. It turns the engine a bit then freewheels. I have my 2008 KLR open to do the doohikey and fix the deep hole. Could it be simple as low battery? I can't test it now that it is open. But if I need to change the starter...

Hellow there. I've got a 2006 KLR650 with 3k miles on it. I got stuck in some mud a few weeks ago and in my zeal trying to extricate myself from the mud by walking the bike out in first gear, I completely and utterly smoked my clutch. Fried it. TOAST! (pics available upon request. I took...

I'm swapping out my complete 2009 transmission with an incomplete 2014 transmission. I would like to re-use as many parts as I can. I'm interested to find out what experiences others have had. Here's what I've learned: There were changes made in 2011. Clutch: In early 2011 the clutch was...

My 2006 KLR clutch doesn't seem to fully disengage. When I put the bike in gear from neutral, it really jerks. Before starting the bike I've been 'breaking' the clutch and then starting it in gear, but now the bike won't start unless I put it in neutral. I've adjusted the clutch so that there...

I was out doing more "break-in" miles today and I noticed a pretty major/weird problem. When shifting through the gears, first through 3rd seem to work pretty good. Then when I shift into 4th gear, it acts like it does not engage fully. It will sometimes pop back into 3rd gear (making the RPMs...
