Hey everyone,
New here & new to Kawasaki as well.
Picked up an 08 KLR 650 Monday with 1400 miles. I had my dealer keep an eye out for one last week.
He told me they were all gone, but he'd let me know if he came across anything.
He calls me a couple days later & says, you won't believe this, but a guy came in about an hour ago with a red KLR, says I can't afford the payments on this bike, can you sell it? He says I think so.
The bike was sold new by my dealer at the end of May.
I trade for the bike & make the 60 mile ride home. I roll the throttle up to 80 and it starts to surge, then cuts out pretty bad, I back off and it comes out of it.
I'm cruising along about 65 and it starts doing it again. I back off a little, it's smooths out again. I stay out of it and it does fine the rest of the way home.
When I got home I pulled the bowl off the carb and see nothing. Put it back together and take it out and really stand on it, OH BOY, SHOULDN'T have done that :mad0235: , didn't think I was gonna make it back!!!
Pulled it apart again & removed the jets, what do ya know, crap in the main jet!!!!!
Also removed the tank & checked the wires, all looks good from what I can tell.
Will be changing the balancer chain tensioner this winter if it lasts that long.
I think I'm really gonna like this bike :35a: !

Welcome aboard docauto....I think you will definately enjoy the bike. Glad you found the issue so quickly, sounds like you know your way around the bike pretty good already and that is a big plus. I do recommend an inline filter for exactly that issue. Seems like so many bikes this year are having problems with junk in the fuel. If we can be of help please ask any questions.

What part of Southern Illinois are you in? There is a group of us that ride at LBL, but it's been awhile since our last trip. Lot of scheduling conflicts, can't seem to get everyone together.

Thanks DXKLR,
Hello Wanderer in Evansville!!!
I'm down there about every weekend (not on 2 wheels).
My father-in-law is at Select Hospital on the west side of town.
I am in Lawrence County right across the river from Vincennes.

Thanks screaming scamp!!
I like to read all the stuff on here but have not had much to say lately since this has been a very bad year for us.

My wife lost a sister a few weeks ago just all of a sudden, which lived next to us, and to make things worse, we laid her father to rest yesterday, which lived the other side of us.

He had been in the hospital for 4 months, never recovering from lung surgery. He was in a couple different hospitals in Evansville, but was returned to Vincennes a few weeks ago. He never made it back home.

The daughter he lost was in the same hostpital he was when she passed on and he never even knew it. She went in sick one morning and was gone that night. Just like that!!!!! She was a twin and only 48 years young.
