I have owned this scoot for 5 years, put a little more than 10k miles. Was considering a $20k+ ADV Bike and decided to throw 25% less at my current ADV.
New in the last 3 months.
Emig Racing stem and 46mm clamps with steering stabilizer
Ohlins 46mm inverted forks valved and sprung for riding style and weight
Cogent Dynamics shock with remote preload adj
SW Motech rock guard
Warp 9 Wlite new wheel sets
Hidenau Scout rubber
With the suspension upgrade it now feels very well planted on the asphalt at speed and dirt it TBD.
Take a look, let me know what you think.

How much travel do the 46mm Ohlins forks have?

Sounds good; I'd be interested to know what you did with your rear suspension, particularly if you used a Gen1 linkage to increase travel from the stock Gen2's 7.3" to the Gen1's 9.1" or if you had Cogent do up a shock for 10" of travel......did you modify the forks to suit or just raise them in the triples??

Sorry for the 20 questions, it's hard to find people modding their KLR's for better offroad use...Oh, and Welcome!

Not sure on total travel on the OhLin’s forks. I’ll contact my suspension guru and share.

Hey Dave, the shock is standard travel but I used the Eagle Mike raising links with the remainder of stock linkage.

I raised the forks in the triples.

Still working on the 15 posts to hit the upload requirement.

I installed gen 1 linkage on my '09. I kept the top of the forks flush with the clamps. Seems the change in geometry would be no different than installing raising links. I have been happy with the results in travel and handling.

I'm guessing that the forks have around 11.5 - 12" travel......In addition to the raising links, I'd swap in a Gen1 shock linkage.

Turbo, do you find the weight of your KLR to be a problem when you’re ripping it up off-road?
Big improvement on handling. Street wise the front is a little divey, as long as you know how it is going to react, it’s a non issue for me.
