First off, thank you to everyone for all your information, technical support, stories, and sharing the lessons of your experiences. I’ve spent 21 years riding strictly on pavement, and I had become bored to death of asphalt. So after 2 years of researching the KLR world, I finally took the plunge this week and bought a new, red, 2008 KLR 650. My wife actually encouraged me to get it because she was sick and tired of hearing me talk about the bike and the forum stories. I spent more time researching this purchase than anything else in my entire life, but during the past 2 years of reading the forums I lost 103 pounds and had to rehabilitate a catastrophic wrist injury to make sure I could even attempt to ride a bike like the KLR off-road. So, now the adventure begins…

Welcome. You're smart for researching before you buy. Most people don't even read owners manuals.
