Hey fellas. Been a member of the site for a few weeks now, just thought it was time I introduce myself. I bought a used, 2005 KLR 650 red/black, a little over 2 wks ago. It was a pretty clean bike, but I went over it with Q-tips after I bought it (just kidding-but I actually gave it a thorough detail job after I took these pics, just because I wanted to show up at school with a shiny bike). I'm 30, in graduate school, and was looking for a bike to combat the 16MPG I been getting with my SUV. Got a great deal on this bike from a guy who is a truck driver that hasn't really had time to appreciate this baby. Been riding it every chance I get, and am excited about the opportunities to get together with some other Dual Sport guys and see what this baby can do on some back roads. KLRforum.com gave me some good info before I made my purchase. Looking forward to all the farkle I can add to my bike, and the miles I'm going to put on her. I'm planning on some new tires...the stock rear is looking a little bit worn. Don't think the Doo has been done, so I plan on getting that taken care of as soon as I can find someone to guide me in this endeavor (I'm not very well equipped with the necessary skills to start that project on my own..even though I've seen the how-to website). A few other gadgets and gizmos are on the way. Looking forward to reading and posting on this site some more. Nice to meet u guys!

Great looking bike Rick. Is identical to my buddies 05. Oh he also never seems to forget to remind me that somewhere on the net his 'yours' bike ranks 4 points higher than my 07 in an overall score. LMAOO... After putting some serious miles on both I am beginning to believe him. His doesn't burn oil, mine does some, and he consistantly gets a bit better mileage. Think my right hand is more judicious with the throttle than he is. hahahahahahahaha
At any rate keep us posted with new add ons and some pics from some back road rides. I have seen several guys posting from the GA area. I would think a good tech day for all of you would be good. If you were all closer to KY we would be happy to give some advice and over the shoulder pointing on doo's and such :).
