I test rode a 2012KLR650. It had no friction zone to speak of. The clutch was either engaged or not engaged. Never had that kind of feel in a clutch before. Has anyone experienced this before? Will someone point me in the direction of a cause. and possible cure?

Thank you.

Could be a couple of things... The first I would check would be the cable adjustment. If that's good it's possible that someone used oil with friction modifiers (energy conserving) in it and it's affecting clutch operation. But, if it's just a test ride and it didn't feel right I would be inclined to move on to another bike.

Someone may have slipped the clutch excessively and glazed the fiber plates . . .

If that's it, relatively easy/inexpensive fix.

Sick clutch wouldn't necessarily be a deal-breaker for me; YMMV.
