In my search for a late model KLR I've read the 2014 model was updated a bit mid-year and cleverly labeled the New Edition. From what I can tell the only differences are a firmer suspension and narrower seat front on the NE. I haven't seen either one and unless they are parked side by side its probably hard to tell which model has the narrower front portion of the seat. Any other tells like seat material used? Shock spring color?

The front portions of the seats are the Same, for leg length reasons.

It is the 'butt-cheek' area of the NE seat which is Widened for additional comfort!

Thanks for the replies. I guess what I was looking for were the visual clues that differentiated the early '14 from the later. I just read on Cycle World that the new seats are also dimpled so maybe I can use that as a visual clue rather than trying to read serial numbers. The old eyes don't focus as well close up as they used to do.
:frown2:

Thanks PD. Anything I've read says the seat is narrower at the front AND wider further back so I only mentioned the front hoping that I could use that as a visual clue. But yes your right, the butt area is wider. If the new seats are truly dimpled and the old ones were not that'll work.

Cheers.
