Just to give you an idea how dependable a KLR is, I had purchased mine in 05(94 mod) and road it everywhere I could, then I started having trouble with what I thought was an problem in the wires, Bike would stall, run for a while then fail again in the worst places, So after taking it apart all the way to the frame, checking everything I lost intrest and parked it. After three years of setting in the garage I started again and (with new glasses) I looked over the wires they were fine, also found that a mouse had filled my header pipe with acorns, and to my suprise it was the carb the whole time, someone had repaired the plastic elbow where the fuel line enters the carb (it was cracked) with J-B weld, it had gotten inside the fitting restricting the flow of fuel ($7.00 part) that fixed, new batt, put back together, pull spark-plug spray in some tune-up in a can, crank it over it fired right up, runs great.
Have a good day.

That's the way I love to think of my bike as well... like a tractor! I think I'm naming it Duke the Tractor. There is no way this bike should get a girls name. He just doesn't act like a girl.... no purring... more thump thump thump... and all that backfiring on decelleration... I do that same thing after Mexican!
