Got my new tyres on my 22 KLR. Pirelli Scorpion Trail II.
So much grip on them and a very good 80/20 tyre.
Going around Mt Panaroma with them was a dream, so much grip on the smooth race track.
Had just over 3400km on the original Dunlops, the rear was on the wear marks so would not have lasted much longer.
Will need the better tyres for the Victorian High Country, Great Ocean Road and Tasmania.

Is that a loop or road course?
It is a public road. Gets closed for the races they do on it. All the concrete barriers are in place and don't get removed. It is a 6.2km track.
Very challenging track, one of the best in the world. Lots of youtube videos of it.

The KLR is always more FUN when it is Rolling on its tires, rather than simply standing on its tires & stand.
I am in snowy/cold Wyoming, USA.
Sure is. Was a very pleasant 28 degrees Celsius for the trip.
Honestly, I love riding, would find someway to ride in winter over there. Would annoy me having an adventure bike in the garage and not being able to ride it. I would find a way too

Ah.... life in Minnesota! It's not exactly the tropics! ;)

We do Fahrenheit in the USA. In MN we can (and have) hit -40F without calculating in the "Windchill" here. Add the "Windchill" factor, and the Temps can feel like to -50 to -75F.

I live in the southern part of the state. Our lows this year only got down in the -20's Ambient. It's been a mild & wet winter here. They are predicting SNOW today!

Willie
Tad cold then, I lived in Ohio so know all about the cold. Can still remember walking to school in the snow and blizzards. -20 was the coldest I have been in there.
I have been to some serious cold places, but something about Northern mainland of the USA is just cold beyond cold. Though still remember crazy "********" riding little 2 strokes through the snow.

We used to tow saucers, inner tubes & runner sleds with our 2 strokes with ropes wrapped around our tires on the snow-packed streets of my small home town, Hudson WY, 11 miles to NE of here. Early 1970's.

My '71 CT-1 175 Yamaha would reliably stay running, at about the 75th Kick. :)
Always found 2 stroke seem to run nicer in the cold then 4 stroke. However, got to get them running first. Can always have fun on 2 strokes. Will hold onto mine, plus then can stick it to the greenies as well.

Race Gas & Castor Bean Oil!!! 🤤

Willie
Do you have a product called "start ya bastard" over in America? It is made by Nulon. Awesome stuff, will get any bike to start, my 2 strokes may or may not have had their fair share of it.

No Sir.... I have NOT heard of that one! :ROFLMAO:

A higher Gear and a good tug typically works if your Leg wears out! ;)

Willie
Highly good stuff. Works awesome on older bikes.
Same with the occasional WD40 down the exhaust :D

My old DT100 bikes can start by pushing down on the kickstarter by hand. very easy starting. Don't get sore legs unless starting a big thumper like an SR400 or XT500, don't get the decompression lever right and will snap your leg right back :p

I looked it up right after you posted it!!!! :ROFLMAO:

Too cool!!!!

I'm an old WD-40 for Starting Fluid type of Guy! I've used that for YEARS in Equipment! It's GREAT because it also provides a LITTLE lube to the good old Piston, Rings & Cylinder! A BIG Plus if you are tryin' to get the coals stoked in a old 2-Stroke!

Snowing here and about -2C.... what do you have?

Willie
If I run out of start ya bastard I use WD40.
Can't fault either.
Old 2 strokes need all the help they can get sometimes.

Sunny, not a cloud in the sky, perfect 25C here.

Stayin' alive! Stayin' alive!

Never thought an opportunity would come to share this, but here's a pic I took from the carport of the Roseville CA apartment I lived in '06 - '09. This was in January, '08. A major storm was winding down and I took the day off to play, as, apparently, did these guys. Of course they're guys.

That's a snowboard he's on. He made it to, but not over, the speed bump a ways down the aisle.

Cheers to Whitehuntsman - you get to do cool stuff in a cool place!

Is this Marty guy from California, by any chance? Or did he visit once, hug a redwood, and has never been the same since? I can talk, because I was born in Berkeley - which, despite what my friends say, does NOT explain everything - "The Sixties" explains everything - oh, and I grew up here, and I still live here.

Sure do, have a few trips in the works. Lots to explore and with the bike to do it
