I have never used a filter skin before and it is time to clean my air filter, how should I put it on?
Do I put the filter skin on dry, will it absorb any oil from the main element or do I oil it like the filter??
I used cheap 'chux superwipes' as a cheap version of filter skins in the past. To get the best effect you do need to oil them or the fine dust will just get past the cloth and stick to the filter anyway. It will stop the big lumps though.
For the skins, a ziploc bag with a bit of oil and squeeze it through the filter is probably easiest. Disposable gloves will keep you clean while you fit it again.
For what I was playing with I wrapped the cloth over the filter and gave it a quick spray with K&N Filter oil that I had left over from a car I got rid of. Quick and dirty.
