EXCELLENT.....it's our 3rd annual Blue Ridge Run! BRR is a great place to go and get away from the heat. Avg. temps in the mountains for this time of month is around 80°. The twisties, scenery, and dirt are always a welcome site.....and so is the Blue Ridge Motorcycle Campground that we call home for the weekend! Moved it back a week this year to not interfere with Fathers Day. Be sure and check out last year's report at the bottom of this post!

That's a great place to ride and (IMO) on the best part of the Blue Ridge Parkway. I'd love to go. We ride that area a lot but we (wife and I) "camp" in a motorhome with the A/C set on 68. I looked at their website and it doesn't look like they have RV sites.

Riding 215 north from 64 up to where it meets 276 gets my favorite road vote. There's also a nice forest road between 276 and 215. OH! And don't miss Waterrock Knob on the parkway. It's a few miles west of 19 on the Parkway and has restrooms which are few and far between on the parkway. The thing to remember on the Parkway is to watch the road. It's easy for your eyes can get stuck on the view.

Riverside Campground and Laurel Creek Campground around the corner takes RVs.

There are many FS roads in the area, and the twisties are excellent! Most of the aggressive riding has been closed (some still around), but you will have great fun!

We will be riding great twisty pavement, but will also ride a good bit of Forest Service roads. We can also split to a couple of groups if some are wanting some milder dirt and others are wanting more aggressive dirt, which we still have some in the area.

With Spring closing down and Summer beginning, we got to enjoy our last rally for the season at Blue Ridge Run. To escape the heat of everyday life, there was a convergence on Cruso, NC and the beautiful, cool mountains in the surrounding area. It was great seeing many of the regulars, newbies, and even some legends from the past! Thanks to Blue Ridge Motorcycle Campground for giving us a place to relax and shoot the bull. Already looking forward to jump starting the fall season with Tour de Pisgah!

FRIDAY

This was the first year for me to ever trailer the bike to BRMC. Very glad I did, because as I was leaving, the rain came down! I picked up Jamie and it finally started letting up around Andrews, NC. We had 7 riders for today's ride and enjoyed some great scenery, roads, and BBQ! We got back to camp in time to set up camp and hang with some more friends! It was so good to see GreenGene again! Also, Raul, a new friend we made 2 weeks earlier at Sequatchie Valley Days, was able to come stay with us this weekend! It was a big change for him from riding around in the oven of Mississippi to the cool days of the NC mountains! Our last guy to get to camp that night was Yotaman423!

SATURDAY

After a good breakfast, 13 of us took off to do some Blue Ridge Parkway and Hientoga Rd. before lunch! Fred came up on his CB750 to see us off! A few people would peel off periodically as the day progressed, but we still had 10 of us when we hit some new riding later in the day! On the way back to camp, we did our usual early evening BRP cool down run! AWESOME!!
