So I adjusted my rear brake light last night as it was only coming on when the pedal was fully depressed. Pretty simple to do. So I'm riding tonight and decided for whatever reason to look back at the light as I pulled the front brake...And nothing. I get home and realize my brake light isn't working with the front brake. I look at the switch and sure enough one of the terminals popped off. I plugged it back and all is good. The point? Just a reminder to check that light. Heck I could have been riding around for a month with virtually no brake light.

And..... you only get one bulb from the factory. One bulb blows,,,, no light in the rear. I loaded the back of my bike up with flashing LED brake lights and extra running lights. It's a light show when I use the brakes.

I had bought one of those LED flashing jobbies from some guy on .net. Loved it, direct plug in install and way brighter than the stocker! Plus, LED's pretty much last forever! This one also had the option to toggle off the flashing before going solid in case it was illegal in your state/province/country.

Will this work on a Gen 1? It says on the website it's for a Gen2.

Thank you,
John
Haha; yes. Funny thing is I had the same question but apparently the "Gen2" reference was for the second generation of his taillight, NOT a reference to a Gen2 KLR.....still think that was a bit short sighted of him.....but anyhow, yes I have two of those lights on my 2000 and 2001 KLR's. VERY happy with them.

Cheers,
Dave

Thanks Dave,

I just bought one of his H4 LED bulbs, and found him (Dean) to be very responsive to email questions, so I will be ordering the taillight from him today. I tried one of the 1157 LED bulbs from Superbrightleds in the wide angle variety and, though it seems brighter than the stock 1157 incandesent bulb, it's not as bright as I'd like.

I'll let everyone know how the H4 LED works as well.

Yep, Dean is a good guy. :) I also have his H4's in both my KLR's and like them too though to be completely honest, I haven't compared them vs. the stock 55w at night....I just like the reduced draw as the factory wiring is inadequate for 55 watts and there is a tendency to blow the headlight fuse if you accidentally hang up the switch between high and low beam.......no longer an issue with a 14 watt LED!

Cheers,
Dave
