Hey Guys, Anyone have a specific place they recommend to get brake pads for my 89 KLR650? Quality counts!

You want CL front brake pads, Part # CL2383 A3, for front on Generation 1 KLR650.

Source:

Spiegler Performance Parts
1699 Thomas Paine Parkway
Dayton, OH 45459
Phone: 937-291-1735
Fax: 937-291-2368

Riding partner (85,000 miles on his KLR650) has these; says they stop with authority and after 7,000 miles, the CL pads DO NOT etch his Tusk oversize rotor excessively.

If you're after quality, I'd give these a try.

Damocles, Thanks for responding. I checked them out. Seems they only supply for the newer models. I have a 1989 and a 1994. I'll see if I can fine the CL from another supplier.

Gen 1 brake pads are identical in fitment from 1987-2007 for the most common "A" series KLR650.

Fronts and rears.

Same goes for Gen 2, 2008-to current year.

I spoke with a counterman there; he said they had the correct pads (although his reference did not extend back as far as your model years). As pdwestman says above, ALL Generation 1 (1987-2007) KLR650s use the same pads; order "2007" pads and they will fit your bikes. Your contact at the vendor's apparently is unaware of the universality of KLR650 parts for model years.

Use the part number in my post above.
