Hi All! I am looking for cam caps for a KLR 650 2008. The absurd thing is that they seem to be available only by buying the entire cylinder head. Does anyone know where I could buy exhaust cam caps? Thanks in advance!

PS: While I understand that one might want to have both halves of the part that holds the cam in place to have equal wear, there are cases when buying a cylinder head is not only cost prohibitive, but simply unjustifiable.

Men say cam caps are bored with each head, thus each is unique, not interchangeable.

If so, whatever cam cap you might find as a replacement wouldn't fit the shaft properly, barring unlikely coincidence.

Could a machinist fit a cap to a head? Doubt it; centering the circle with the existing head camshaft centerline would be a challenge, seems to me; re-boring would produce oversize/oval profile.

Hog out camshaft channel for replacement bearing halves? Replacement of complete head likely less costly.

My understanding only; corrections an clarifications welcomed.
