Had a weird problem the other day. The bike would crank intermittently and would idle normally.
Revving the engine to 4000 RPM or so resulted in wild gyrations in the tachometer and rough ruining.
Popped a voltmeter on the battery terminals and saw some voltage fluctuation with the engine revved.
I tightened the screw on the negative terminal and now all is well.
