i bought the long narrow one based on the advice from a rider at the dealer. He said that the wide one is difficult to navigate around town with before you get on the highway. Using the narrow one i could see how the wide one would be intrusive. You still need to be able to grip the throttle and the wide one takes up nearly the whole grip.
The narrow one has been plenty comfortable on the hwy.
I have had the narrow one for a couple of years. Even with it I find it can be a little hard to have smooth throttle inputs around town. More of an issue on a bike with a lot of power, not so much with the KLR obviously. The crampbuster is certainly worth the little it costs, and allows 500 to 700 mile days to be much more bearable.
