Hi all

Just bought a brand new (to me) 2007 KRL got it home and was so happy, :)getting all geared up to go riding. No license yet so I brought it home by truck. Rode it around in the yard just want to hit the road. Looked on-line and came across the doo hickey mod :(, wish I would have found it first before I bought the bike. Think I will order part from Schnitz, I have none specialized tools or the regular tools, not sure i have the mechanics skills to complete the task. Was wondering if any one was in the Kansas City area (one hour east of KC) with tools that could help with the mod, will pay for their time.
I dont want to take it to a dealer, I prefer to see that it is complete for my self.

Thanks

Hey, Kawa Rider, and welcome aboard. Enjoy your new ride. Consider a Motorcycle Safety Foundation rider course. Completion will eliminate the need for DMV motorcycle endorsement tests in most states and qualify you for lower insurance premiums with most carriers. And keep you from learning some painful and expensive lessons the hard way.

As far as the balancer lever [doohickey] replacement, one common way to get that done is to get involved with an area "Tech Day". You might try to generate some interest in getting one set up in your area in the regional forums, maybe in the "Midwest Riders" section. This is where a number of riders meet up and work on each others bikes. They share tools and experience, doing maintenance and upgrades. Loaner tools are usually available, instructional videos are out there, articles and a limitless amount of online forum advice.

As far as where to buy, there are a number of distributors that carry replacement parts. I tend to buy from places that will offer me some future support on future items.

Hey sounds like a good idea. I live in st Louis and my new to me 08 needs a doo also. So I might even consider going for that if it's on a day I can ride out there.
