I put a LEXX on mine, have not done any jetting yet, may not ever. Runs great, sounds good. I am at 6500 elevation.

The Lexx with the quiet core (gov't approved) spark arrestor is the most popular
replacement on this site. Under two hundred bucks, high quality finish and fitment,
and just barely louder than stock with high flow.

Two of us went weird with a GSXR 750 muffler (bright silver) , and I used a Honda 400
megaphone styled long muffler (now black).

If it fits use it. If it doesn't, make it fit. LOL

Enjoy no matter your choice,

Addition: (see below)

Gru,
At your elevation the jetting is probably spot-on perfect.
Maybe the needle (.22) mod for midrange which is what
I wanted to say to

Fish,
about the jetting and/ or KLX needle or .22 mod and backing
out the idle screw 1/3 to 1/2 turn from where it's at.
(There's threads on that mixture balancing mod.)
"Care and feeding of the CV carb", click search, or find
the sticky somewhere at the top of the page.

The question: which was Lexx,

I believe that the Quiet core baffle and screen provide enough
backpressure to not require a rejet. The issue at hand is the
factory settings for idle and cruise (the two places the EPA tests
emissions) are lean to begin with, hence the needle and screw
adjustment/ modifications. This is going to be more of an issue
with any aftermarket or cored-stock blast can.

A full stage one will probably require a thicker mix thru the range
with the higher breathing if the standard intake mods are in place.

I'm with Cheap; I don't think most silencers require rejetting since the airbox is much more restrictive than the exhaust.....that said, the bike really benefits from (at a minimum a snorkle removal and KLX kit. I can't be bothered with the 22 cent mod; the klx kit is relatively cheap (albeit more than 22 cents!) and does a much better job.

as far a silencers go; best is the LeoVince X3, the Lexx is a popular budget alternative and is surprising quiet with the optional quiet core; both are around 93-94 db. I like quiet....if a bit more noise is acceptable to you the FMF Q4 is lighter and easier to install and has the important stuff; USFS approval, spark arrestor, caliper clearance.....at about 96db which I consider on the high side of acceptable. Most silencers are way too loud IMO, some upwards of 102db!

All but the LeoVince require repacking...I don't think packing is a big deal but it is another thing to address....especially if you pack on the miles.

cheers,
Dave

I think it is spot-on, runs real nice and smooth. Did a WOT shut-down on the side of the road, pulled plug and it was nice a brown/tan. (removing plug is a b#tch)
Leaving it the way it is for the year...
