What's with these salacious, unsolicited advertisements interleaved within the forums?

Either porn, or dread disease announcements/solicitations abound.

Even decent ads, camouflaged within the forums, seem insufferable, to me.

MUST this website lower itself to accepting advertising revenue from this trash to survive? Or, is the additional revenue sufficiently attractive to host this filth?

Regardless, if this prurient garbage continues, some forum members may not wish to be complicit in it by posting on the website.

DISCLAIMER: Am I the only forum member receiving these, for example, "NEVER PAY FOR LIVE SEX AGAIN!" ads intermingled within posts on this forum?

I will escalate this, as it seems out of place.

What I noticed was that it was attached to certain members' posts, as if it were somehow attached to their profile. For example, Lockjaw and planalp.

@Damocles, do you have a link to where you are seeing this? The more examples I can provide the easier it will be to identify what the cause is.

Thanks.

I haven’t seen anything like this, maybe because I have a paid subscription so I don’t see ads, but I do know that on my Goldwing forum this kind of thing has happened to others even though we have zero ads installed. I found it can be caused by a malicious code injected into the users browser on their local machine and has nothing to do with the forum itself.
The code can be injected from malware picked up from anywhere on the internet.

I suggest running a reputable malware scanner like malwarebytes or similar, and maintain a real time virus scanner program, and use it to scan your computer occasionally under a scheduled task.

Often simply doing some browser maintenance like clearing cache and cookies can fix it too.

The odd this is that it is one those two users posts and they haven't been on the forum in ages.

I haven't found it anywhere else, perhaps Damocles has.

I’m curious what operating system Damocles is running. This kind of thing is most common under MS Windows and using the Internet Explorer browser.

I run Windows 10 with Firefox and it seems that no matter the poster, everyone's posts seem to be followed by something cancer related. Almost as a signature added after whatever it was they posted. I admit I have not seen any as of late, but in the past every post on this site was followed by some ad for a horrible disease, usually cancer related. Never seen any sex stuff here though.

When I logged out of my account and viewed the forum, I see a lot of cancer ads too. Pretty much all over the forum but especially at the bottom of user posts like you say. The ad subjects can be generated based on sites you've recently visited as targeted interests. I haven't gone out looking for anything related to cancer so I don't know why that would be.

If you aren't a paid member ($40 lifetime) you will see ads, but they are the usual Google AdClick sort of thing. Apparently, these are not AdSense (because Google doesn't do sex), they are only showing up in a couple of places, and are also showing up to paid members.

I don't think it is a browser thing, I'm W10 and Chrome, a paid member, and I see them.

I logged out and I do see the cancer ads, but also KX450, BMW1600, Salvation Army, etc. I haven't searched any of that so it must not be Google AdSense stuff.

I logged out to see the ads (I see none when logged in) and the only ones I saw were the regular internet clickbait ads. It actually says "sponsored links by Taboola" at the end of the row of ads.

The issue reported by Damocles is not so much about ads which normally appear. There has been a hack which inserted links related to Free Live Sex in all the posts of two former forum members who were quite active, so it affects a lot of posts. Tom has escalated this to the Site Admins. Suspect it will be cleaned up tomorrow.

They're wasting their money trying to get me to click on their ad. I'm married so that stuff is free. She does cost a bunch of money but I consider that is what the washing clothes and dishes cost.

Guess I'm one of the lucky ones. All I see is "Love has no labels" and I clicked on it to investigate.
It's all about ending bias in the world. But I didn't see one thing thing about GS owners bias and putting down KLR riders.

Years ago I had to take a polygraph test for the Fire Department, and the proctor asked me if I had ever paid for sex while hooked up to the machine.
I told him, "Sir, I got married in '83. I've been paying for it ever since."

He almost choked as he started laughing so hard.

Here's an example; same format as, "Free Live Sex," and . . . "WebCam Streaming Nudes," etc.:

Visit The Site To Find Dosing Info About A Metastatic NSCLC Medication Option.
www.lungcancertherapyoption.com
Toney, I'll inform you when a Border Collie Rescue ad appears! :)

---------------------------------------

EDIT: Here's another one:
NSCLC Therapy - Clinical Studies and Resources
Get Educated About a Treatment Option for NSCLC at the Official Site.

I have Windows 8.1; Internet Explorer browser.

@Damocles - A link to the individual post you are getting these quotes from would be beneficial.

Oh, my!

Dare I click on such a prurient link?

Here's an ad link appearing, I think, on your post above:

https://www.keytruda.com/non-small-cell-lung-cancer/?utm_source=Swoop&utm_medium=CPC&utm_content=Creative36&utm_campaign=Keytruda Lung_Targeted Disease_UNBD_NA_BRND_BROD_SWOP_NA

Next "X-Rated" ad I see, I'll try to capture it and forward the presentation and/or URL to you.
