I had my hip replaced and haven’t had the bike in gear for 9 months. Got on it today, felt good, started and tried to go for first and the engine locked. Tried rocking with the clutch in engine off. Any thoughts?

Start the engine.
Pull in the clutch lever.
Blip the engine hard three times.
That should break the plates apart.
If it doesn't, repeat.

Blip it three times, hard. Blip it hard, let it come back to idle speed. Again, and again. That should break the plates free. They are simply stuck together with oil. After the three hard blips, you should be able to put it in first with no issues.

push or get someone to push you then put in gear, ride around in first gear with the clutch lever pulled in, go on and off the throttle hard, the vacuum locking of the fiber plates WILL LEt GO.

Ride easy for a time allowing the clutch plates to re hydrate :)

Over the winter storage months i ny tie the clutch lever against the bar so this doesn't happen :0

Glad to hear. On old bikes with grabby clutches, I put the front wheel against a tree and katy-bar-the door!
