I've always had a key stuck in the gas cap because if I take my key out of the ignition I lose it.

Recently there was a discussion about making the gas cap keyless and I decided to replace my gas cap key, code name "Nut Cracker, sweet!" with something a little lower in profile.

Nut Cracker, sweet! and a $2 knob from ACE.

After a bit of Dremel work.

The new Wee Key.

Wee Key at home.

I've potted the key in place with JB Weld. Should work!

"Thanks, Jack and Lockjaw", Tom marveled doggedly.

27 points if you can decipher that one, Dan.

That's a short answer for a man of words.

For the benefit of others, the cap lock uses only the end section of the key. As if the tank lock only used two pins in place of say 4 pins for the ignition. I think the helmet lock is the same as the cap. So, if you cut off enough of the upper section or file off it's profile it can't be used to steal your bike, but might work to steal your helmet.

"If only I could find Stan Lee," Tom said heroically.

You did! Damn, you're good.

"I'd like to find Stan Lee, too" Tom steamed.

"Much obliged (and only fair) since you, more than anyone else, know that I am not so good at everything I do," Tom sobbed wrenchingly. ;):fiddler::)

That is a cool idea!

You must be a very trusting guy to leave that in the tank. This crazy world we live in now no telling what people would drop in there. :serious:

I had someone steal my throw over bags that were strapped down when I went into a store for less than 5 minutes came back bags and a lot of stuff gone......!
