Buddy of mine, not on the forum, damaged his front wheel and broke the speedo hub. Not repairable. I told him I'd put out a feeler.
Nope. He had a very hard hit on a very rocky trail. Bent rim and busted not only spokes, but the speedo drive box and hub.I'll almost bet that sometime in the past he washed the grease out of the speedometer drive box? Re-greased at it.
Then the pinion gear seized due to lack of grease in the forward bullet tip of the housing, which locked the ring gear and the winged drive tab.
There are 2 ways to Properly re-grease that forward tip of the pinion gear. Read post #s 4, 11 & 12 in this thread,
