I recently sold my 2000 klr 650 and upgraded to a 2003 klr 650, the only problem was the 03 had the dreaded exaust tweet. Thanks to the many posts I took some advice on using a flat scew driver and a hammer and slot cutting the inside exaust tube at 12, 3, 6 and 9 o'clock, the tweet is gone with very little noise increase. thanks for the info .

Old thread but still relivant...

I untweeted my 06 KLR tonight...
Flat screw driver at 12 o'clock about 1" to 1.25"....a little better
Another 1" to 1.5" slot at 6 o'clock...gone!!!!

Did not significantly change the sound. All is good.

I've never noticed, but do the Gen 2 bikes have a tweety issue?? I decapitated tweety shortly after I bought my KLR, back in 04'..

Twitter is lame anyways... So good riddance. Lol. But seriously. I haven't noticed any issues with my 2008. So maybe it's another tweak they made with the update.

I screwdrivered mine a couple of years ago and sort of miss the Aircooled VW sound ;)

Could the air pump and catalytic have something to do with the Gen2 not tweeting?
