33,000 miles in 33 months on my 2004 which I bought new. No problems whatsoever.

It's a great do - it - all bike which excells at nothing; except being able to do everything. Ride the hiways, twisties, fire roads and even single track, and the KLR does them all without a whimper. I'm convinced that it's capabilities are only limited by the riders ability.

Search the sites and one can find folks that race em', and others that travel the world with them. And all that for under 6 grand. And more accessories and mods are available than probably any other motorcycle.

And most importantly, it's a blast to ride.

Buy one and it may beckon you from the garage like mine does:
"Let's go on an adventure, we'll seek out old forgotten roads and take the path few can travel".

I now have 800 miles on my 08, I have had motocross bikes {yz125 and a 250} have had streetbikes {2 cb750's and a 84 v65 magna} and the odd quadracer 250, but of all the machines I have had this one is by far the most enjoyable , I went on a 100 mile trip today on a whim because I was board, went down a paved blacktop for a few miles then saw a dirt raod that looked fun so went that way for a few then saw a trail that invited me to see where it went, to say I had fun is an understatement , the only thing that would of made it better is some company but that is in the works , I have lived in this area for 16 plus years and have never seen as much of it as I have since gettin the klr, my brother barrowed an older klr from a friend a few weeks ago and we went for a ride, he is now hooked, he isnt sure which bike he is going to get yet, he loves the rugged look and tanklike toughness of the older klr but cant deny the plus's to the 08,time will tell, eather way we will have another rider to enjoy the machine that excels at nothing but can do everything including puttin that silly grin on our faces cause they are just that much fun ...

I actually convinced my wife it is a " safe " motorcycle as it is far too heavy to jump.
LOL the fact that they are heavy doesnt mean that we cant try to get some air outta them, does your wife have a single sister?

Very well said Eric!!! I have owned so many bikes.....from junkers to Gs 1200's but in the end the Klr is all I need. I smile with every ride. Simple..Economical...Fun.....-Breck-:)

A post after my own heart..
I sold my BMW because that stupid KLR took up all my riding time.. :)

The only reason I have the Wing is to keep the better half happy, and myself happy on the really long rides..

Great post, but I would have to modify it to...

Can be MADE to them all without a whimper. In stock form it does a lot of whimpering if pushed during any one particular type of riding.

Also, in stock form this bike won't be racing anytime soon or going around the world either.

It's capabilities are only limited by the riders wallet.

That's all good Hustler, but I never said the KLR couldn't make it through a lot of stuff, I said it wouldn't do it without a "whimper". No matter what you claim the bike did, I still have no doubts it had issues during some of that stuff. Just because you ignore the issues doesn't mean they weren't there. That's not rider ability, that's rider tolerance.

No need to slow down, it's all good. I know we all like to believe what we want. Besides tires, I own a stock KLR and if you do also, then it's no different then mine. I know what mine doesn't like. There are no mystery KLR's that I know of, unless modified, they all perform the same.

If yours isn't stock, then we are right back to one of my original points... a persons wallet size can make the KLR do things better.
