I wear glasses and was wondering about some of the MX type helmets with goggles. Does anyone wear the goggles over the glasses or if you want to wear glasses and have an adventure type helmet or you stuck shelling out 400 bucks for the Arai XD? How do other folks who wear glasses deal with that - or do you just go off road in your street helmet?

I don't wear glasses, but a buddy of mine does, and he got a pair of scott goggles that are cut so you can wear your glasses under them. I also think you can get prescription inserts that hook into the googles, so you don't have to wear them under them, not sure though, I think I read that someplace.

Many of the goggle companies make specific goggles to wear "Over The Glasses" or "OTG". If you do an Ebay search (as a reference) for "OTG" you will see many of the different brands. But to answer your question, yes they are available. Hope this helps.

I use a DOT approved off-road type helmet. Being tall, I catch the windblast from the fairing in the face at cruising speeds which causes my eyes to tear up and blur. I have a set of goggles that fit over my glasses for cruising speed. When I ride at lower speeds or off-road, I don't wear the goggles, because they tend to fog. I also have a full coverage street helmet with a sheild for rain and cold weather. If you shop carefully you can find closeouts on helmets and get a very good quality one for cheap. Then you can buy two and have the best of both worlds. Here is a link to dealer that I have had very good dealings with and recommend:

Thanks for the info guys. I have street helmets for my other bike and for touring and the cold, but wanted an MX type one also. Over the glasses - otg - that was what I was looking for. I also do contacts, but where I live now it is so dry they can really start bothering me so I went back to glasses when I ride. This is just the info I needed.

I have a HJC CL-15 and the HJC AC-12 (8 ounces lighter) I ordered should arrive next week. Both of these allow me to wear glasses. It would be nice if I could wear polarized glasses behing the shields.

Did you get the helmets broken in yet? How did the system work out?
