It's been 3 years since my last post... Sounds like AA.

Three seasons on the BMW F800GS has come to an end. Sold.

Bought another KLR to catch up on some "Backroading".

2009, red with 6100 kms. Did the Doo first thing. My last klr puked at 7900, Doo blew and puked the engine up.

Heading to Moab on Tuesday for a week of sight seeing and off roading.
(given it's so late in the season, we will 4 wheel the bikes to Utah)
I know, sacralidge, but only got a few days left before it snows here in Winnipeg.

So all the best and happy Halloween:animal0010:

Glad to see you've returned...so how would you compare the KLR to the F800GS?
I found the BMW a wonderful bike and with the warranty soon coming to an end, I felt it time to sell it. I put 38,000 KM on it and never had a break down. The F800 has lots of power and is very good on two lanes, be it slab or gravel, however I personally found it a handful on single track.

I plan on running the KLR next week in Moab and then handing it down to my 20 year old. It will be his first Dual Sport and figure it a good bike for him to hone his skills....rather than on a crotch rocket.

I have already replaced the F800 with an R1200GS, which I will use for long long distance touring and two lane gravel next year. The KLR will be at my disposal for single track runs from time to time.

Here are some photos of the rides in the stable:
