It started last night, up until then she had not even rode on the back. We wanted to investigate the loud music we hearing near our home/farm. I asked her if she wanted to take the bike, she said ok
At first, she said she was all cramped but after she got situated she said it was not too bad. My wife is used to riding on the back of my Honda Shadow that has a Mustang seat. After riding a few minutes, we find out that the music is alot away than we thought. As we are riding back through the vineyard, she says to me that this is fun
& she would not mind learning how to ride so we could ride together
She had never said that about my Shadow.
Fast foward to late this afternoon. I had rode down to the neighbors. My wife was in the backyard feeding one of the ducks a few crickets when I got home. Seeing that she had on flip flops, I casually mention to her that if she would put on her boots, she could try to ride some. I was still in disbelief and shocked when she said ok
While she was changing shoes, I took off my tail bag so that she would not get frustrated getting on. I give her a few quick "how tos" and turn her loose. Instead of turning around where I told her to, she turns & goes across the dam. I'm proud
but am concerned that I am on foot and she a too far away for me to help. I also knew that she may have problems turning around over there. I am in a fast walk at this point. I just can see the brake light flash on the bike when I see her and the KLR go down. I brake into a run. But by the time I get there, my wife had gotten up & brushed herself off. I just knew that she was finished with learning to ride.
While I'm picking up the bike, I tell her about all the times that I have dropped it. I could tell pretty quick that she was ok when she was telling me want she was saying to herself going across the dam "I can't believe I'm riding a bike"
Even though she was not quite ready to get back on at that moment, She climbed on the back with me. She was laughing about the spill on the way back to the house.
After listening to her story, I think what happened was I had told her that she would need to give it a little gas while turning. Well, she gave a little too much gas & combined with a 14t sprocket. She ended up in the edge of the woods.
I am very proud of my wife & hope she has caught the bug.
