Ignore this if you don't like quasi-philosophical rambling.

I really like to ride my bike. I've realized just how much recently since I put a gripster on the back...if I had known the difference that would make, I would have sold the stocker.
I rode bikes as a kid. My grandpa taught me to ride on a Honda Rebel...He said, "turn the throttle back as far as you can and let the clutch go". I ended up with a bike on top of me. He was a hard guy to like sometimes. I spent a lot of hours on the back of his Harley. There were parts of it I enjoyed. Parts I really didn't like. I used to look down and freak out. The fact that I was maybe wearing jeans and a denim jacket with a 20 year old 3/4ths helmet didn't help. Southern Illinois, y'all. Lots of Hogs and nice people.
Bought a scooter about 5 years ago. Buddy works in a scooter shop. Got a sweet deal. I was living in the city and that 150 was fun as hell. Cheap. Also picked up a moped cause I made a deal with my friend. Gave it to my wife. She rode it twice.
Decided to buy a motorcycle and have always wanted an old honda. Tracked down a cherry 73 CB450. Rode that thing and loved it.
Now the KLR. The difference is staggering in terms of fun, but I still like riding my Honda. Different experiences. But I just really, really like to ride. It kind of snuck up on me. About the only thing that competes is fishing. ;)
Joining this forum has been great and I really appreciate the time put in here. And meeting people online who will help you work on your bike in their free time just because? My brother in law won't even do that.
I've rambled long enough, but a woman at work was asking me about my beautiful baby girl. We were talking. I was ATGATT to the ears and she said, "How can you ride a motorcycle?" I showed her the armor. She clucked and went away. No one asks people how they can eat that one last slice of pie. Or always be the guy who has one beer to many...not an alcoholic, just uncontrolled. I practice. I am hyper aware. I understand the risks. And I just like to ride a motorcycle too much not to.
Thanks for hearing me out, you know when you finally figure out how you should have responded? ;)

+2. Riding all year and legal lane splitting in Calif and not sitting in traffic is the best. People back east (OHIO) try to run me over or yell at me when I lane split there. They just don't understand.
